When the stock market first started way back when, it was just trading. Betting, really. It migrated around the world and rose to prominence. After some time it began to control the economy. Money makes the world go round, imaginary money makes it spin faster. All bets, gambling.
Ever wonder if there's a market on countries? Bets on what will go up or down...investments maybe, power maybe. I'm sure there's a market.

Theres a foreign currency market, where you can invest in the currency of other countries but thats not really betting, its more like taking all your money and trading it in for money thats more colorful and fruity while hoping that it will be worth more once you realize that it was a waste of time
